The Four Intermediate Directions

In addition to the four main cardinal directions (North, South, East, and West), there are four intermediate directions that help give more precise locations:

  1. Northeast (NE) – The direction between North and East.

    • Example: New York is in the Northeast of the United States.

  2. Northwest (NW) – The direction between North and West.

    • Example: Washington state is in the Northwest of the U.S.

  3. Southeast (SE) – The direction between South and East.

    • Example: Florida is in the Southeast of the U.S.

  4. Southwest (SW) – The direction between South and West.

    • Example: Texas is in the Southwest of the U.S.

These directions are useful for navigation, geography, and maps, helping people locate places more accurately.
